The Government of Ukraine allowed the use of the water area of the Dry Estuary for conducting economic activities in the field of mariculture.
The relevant order was approved at the last meeting, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine reported.
The ministry emphasized that the territory of the Sukhoi Lyman reservoir freely exchanges with seawater and has sufficient salinity for growing mussels, various types of shrimp, etc.
According to Deputy Minister of Agricultural Policy Vitaliy Holovny, mariculture is a promising direction of development for the Ukrainian economy. It will provide an opportunity to supply the domestic market with high-quality, useful and affordable seafood
"We need to develop marine aquaculture. In this, we rely on the experience of countries that are leaders, for example, Norway and Chile. We have clearly defined coordinates for doing business in the Dry Estuary. And we offer entrepreneurs to participate in electronic bidding for the right to lease water area ", he said.
The lease will be concluded for 7 years. This period is determined based on the fact that profit from the sale of aquaculture products can be obtained in the third year of economic activity. In addition, the entrepreneur will need to prepare for the start of production, which will be carried out by placing technical equipment - floating cages, clam collectors, etc. The first tenders will be announced soon.
