A year ago, a free market for agricultural land was launched in Ukraine. The mentioned reform brought land legal relations out of the shadows as much as possible.
During the press conference dedicated to the first year of the functioning of the land market in Ukraine, the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Solsky emphasized that today the land market works transparently and without corruption.
He also informed that during the year of operation of the land market in Ukraine, more than 105,000 transactions were concluded, including 88,000 land purchase and sale agreements with a total value of over 7 billion hryvnias. Due to Russian aggression, more than 50,000 land purchase and sale agreements did not take place, and land owners defaulted on more than 4 billion hryvnias.
Based on the results of the analysis of concluded agreements, the tendency of land value growth is monitored. So the weighted average price per hectare is now basically 30% higher than the price a year ago.
Mykola Solskyi also noted that the land market remains active even in wartime. Thus, in March 2022, 40% of the auctions were successfully completed on the land lease market - the price increase during the auctions was recorded approximately 4 times.
